Lightnin’ Hopkins – Lightnin’: The Blues of Lightnin’ Hopkins

One of the most influential blues guitarists to come out of the state of Texas, Lightnin’ Hopkins’ unique fingerpicking guitar style would alternate single note leads with rhythm and bass guitar, adding percussive elements by slapping or tapping the body of his guitar – 1960 album Lightnin’ presents him in a trio format backed by bassist Leonard Gaskin and drummer Samuel ‘Sticks’ Evans.
